May 2010

This last year has seen a lot of exciting and forward thinking changes at West Coast Corrugated, mainly changes in efficiency and the layout of the factory.

We have made new investments of a Sodeme Pac 40 Stitcher/Gluer/Taper which enables us to process large corrugated boxes through the factory three times faster and also a new 1 colour printer Slotter for small boxes and pads. We have also recently ordered some brand new upgrades for the corrugator, which brings the total investments on the corrugator alone to over a six figure sum.

We are delighted in the ability to make bespoke samples on our Casemake Cad table for customers. Many customers are extremely happy with the speed and quality of this service; therefore we have been able to secure a number of quality accounts from this.

We, at West Coast Corrugated, are not resting on our laurels and intend investing more money for the future to keep up efficiencies for our customers to enjoy. This will continue in future years to maintain our long term strategy, to keep our position as one of the best in our industry. Although we have spent a lot of money and made big improvements, this will not slow us down as we intend to do a lot more for the future.

April 2008

Over the last 12 months we have experienced strong growth due to the continued investment in machinery and personnel. In an industry which has over capacity and competition is as strong as ever we have bucked the trend. Where competitors have seen a down turn in sales and some been forced to close, we have experienced over 25% growth year on year.

As we strive for better quality, greater efficiency and increased productivity we feel we have to keep investing to maintain and increase our competitiveness. This has in part been achieved through the purchase of our Emba casemaker, now giving us the ability to print 3 colours on 0201 style boxes and produce more boxes per hour than previously.

We have also bought an Ashai AP1600 flat bed diecutter. This has improved the quality of our diecutting and now we can confidently produce a greater range of products that will be fully stripped.

One of our strengths is our service to the customer and reacting to there needs and demands in a timely fashion. Many of our customers are moving towards more bespoke packaging and require samples of varying designs and or materials. We therefore thought it prudent to improve our service here and invested in a CAD CAM Casemake sample table. This gives us more control over New Product Development; from product design and sampling through to production and delivery.

As we have grown we have also recognised the need to bring in new personnel. Though this wasn’t just a case of seeking anyone who could put boxes on a pallet, we needed quality people to help us continue to improve. We have taken on 6 new factory personnel, each with great knowledge and experience in the corrugated industry. These new faces have brought new ideas and a fresh look at some of our working practises. With these ideas and tweaking a few processes we have seen an improvement in quality and productivity.

We have also updated our transport fleet and are currently in negotiations for a new dry end on the corrugator.

We now look to continue our improvements both in sales and productivity in the future and are committed to providing our customers with quality product and service.
